What is shamanic healing?
This form of shamanic healing is about healing inner woundedness. It is a uniquely empowering and adaptable way of healing. It brings into a modern context thousands of years of shamanic healing practice making ancient healing methods accessible for healing and spiritual growth. I've been struggling with (depression, anxiety, etc) for years, how can shamanic healing help? Shamanic healing works at the root cause of inner woundedness, it's a highly effective alternative or complement to counseling. Some clients report deep healing in a few sessions of shamanic healing comparable to years of counseling. The shamanic healing tradition that I'm trained in is unique in that it works with you as an active participant so you are engaged and empowered in your healing. Client issues range from ADD, depression, anxiety, grief, shame, anger, struggles with food and body image issues and much more. What are benefits of shamanic healing? > Empowerment and energy renewal > Support from spirit animals and teachers > Clarity about inner conflict and life decisions > Healing deep inner wounds and the shadow > Wisdom about inner dynamics of the self What can I expect to take place during a healing session? At the start, we will discuss what brought you to seek shamanic healing and any questions you may have. What happens next is based on your individual needs. In most cases, I'll guide you in a shared journeying healing session. Generally this begins with a relaxation phase focused on breath and drumming, then a preparation phase focused on grounding, cleansing and protection energy, and then the bulk of time is spent in your inner sacred space for healing work, where you are an active participant. At the end of journey, I'll gently guide you into re-entry to bring you fully back into your body. Afterwards, we will debrief and discuss ways to integrate journey work. I am not familiar with shamanic journeying, is it safe? Yes, it is safe, you will be aware of what is going on, and you will be actively participating in the healing work. With the support of my guidance, the start of journey will prepare you for entry into your inner self sacred space. This will include deep relaxation and focus on grounding, cleansing and protection energy. The journey process will go at your speed. You will be encouraged to notice and express how you are feeling during the journey. This noticing and expressing will be an invaluable and essential guide for healing work. How does the healing work? Shamanic journeying is a gateway to the inner self that transforms with forces of love and truth. In the journey space, I'll gently guide you into your inner safe space for healing work. You will be building a relationship with your inner wounded parts and eventually helping the wounded part to heal root cause of pain. This isn't done in one fell swoop, as our bodies need time for integration. It can take several sessions to work on an issue. Once you establish a good relationship with wounded part, the contracted energy shifts in your body, and it is freed up for receiving healing energy. With this collaboration between you and your wounded parts, healing energy can flow in, and you will be able to connect to the wound's wisdom and gifts. There are many layers and subtleties to this healing, it doesn't follow a linear path, it's more of a spiral, and it can take time and patience, but it is worthwhile! What if I have doubts about what I see or feel in journey space, is it still effective? Does healing still occur? Doubts are normal to experience, especially when the journey space is new. And yes, it is still effective and healing occurs. With any steps that you take towards connecting to your inner self, healing occurs, and sometimes the smallest steps are the most healing. During the journey, you are encouraged to pay attention to your own emotional response, and if something doesn't feel right, we listen and adjust. Listening to yourself becomes a very important guide. You are also encouraged to be open to what comes without self judgement. In this way, you will use your own personal experience from the journey to give you feedback about what feels real. Let the doubts serve as a living question, one that is open-ended and flexible. If you effort too much to figure it out, it can be distracting. As much as possible, notice how the journey feels in you in order to determine its value in your life. How do I prepare for healing session? Comfort and safety is most important. Carve out the time and space to be undisturbed during session. Wear comfortable clothes. Find a cozy chair or welcoming space to sit on floor or bed, and if you prefer to lie down during journeying, it can be helpful to have a pillow and blanket nearby. Some people are drawn to a pre-session ritual, like smudging self and room, lighting a candle and bringing sacred objects. None of it is necessary, but you're welcome to do any sort of ritual to quiet your mind and ready yourself. Also, it's helpful to start considering what you'd like to work on or noticing what is coming up for you in terms of needed inner work. Allow yourself time in solitude after session to integrate what happened, you may find journaling or being in nature is helpful.
